Backup profiles can be created by going to the menu item Backup in the WordPress admin. You will notice the two default profiles there to get started. To create a new profile, follow these steps:

1. Click the plus sign to launch the profile builder.

2. Enter a name for the profile and choose the type of backup you want included in the drop-down options:

  • Database only
  • Full DB + file
  • File only

We have named our backup file. Click the button + Add after entering the name.

3. Your newly named backup profile will now show up under the list in Backup . To configure or change the configuration settings, simply click the gear icon next to the title as shown below.

4. In the profile settings, the profile name can be changed or the profile may be deleted if needed.

We have called our new backup schedule, DB DB Backup File Daily and have the option of adding remote destinations to backup if we choose. This will overwrite any previous settings entered elsewhere for the purpose of this scheduled backup.

In addition to the regular backups you can make for customers, using profiles can be a useful way to organize backups you want to send directly to customer emails or other destinations that they choose - may be on a different schedule than your backup administrator schedule.

iTheme Sync Remote backup

The iTheme Sync option we mentioned at the beginning of the article is included in the purchase of BackupBuddy and include up to ten websites at no extra charge.

For this review, we will perform a manual backup after accessing our Stashboard.

1. From the tab Backup , we will need to choose which backup configuration we want to run. In this case, we will choose Database only .

A quick word about data segmentation - this option allows for a larger file size transfer than your server can be configured to accept by splitting the file into smaller sections. BackupBuddy automatically transfers large files with a default setting of 80Mb and these settings can be changed in Destination settings in the tab Remote installation in the advanced options.

Provide a value of 0 for no chunking at all. Chunk sizes above 100Mb are not recommended.
