Cryptocurrency trading giant Binance is planning to launch a cryptocurrency mining pool.


According to the Russian newspaper Coinlife reporting On Tuesday, Binance is planning to build a new Bitcoin mining pool. The news was later confirmed by Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao in a tweet on Wednesday.




In addition, Zhao also announced that there will be a range of new additions to Binance's financial product line, including staking, savings and lending.


Sources told Coinlife that Binance has hired experts to work with the new mining pool. The hires included former Bitmain employees after the company made a major layoff earlier this year. According to Coinlife, Binance's new pool is expected to launch in the second quarter of 2020.


Notably, both OKEx and Huobi launched similar mining pools last year, while OKEx announced its pool in August, while Huobi launched the following September.


Binance seems to be looking to accelerate its growth in the second quarter of this year.
